Smiley is coming to Prairie View to speak to students about
community issues on Friday November 9, 2007 at 6pm in the Opal

11/6/07-
2 out of 7 Waller ISD Board Members have suggested negotiating with
activists of the Save Jones Defense Fund. While they were
outnumbered, the resonance of our influence is evident and victory
is certain if our support continues to strengthen and organize,
making our voices heard.
10/30/07- In another show
if fiscal irresponsibility, Waller ISD has hired a million dollar
law firm to fight the motions made by DeWayne Charleston on
behalf of the Prairie View community and Jones Elementary School.
Rather than spending the hundreds of thousands of dollars the school
district has wasted in the first few months of this issue on its
students and the elementary school that is in need of it, the
district is more concerned with making a point that they will not be
held to judicial standards or influenced by the tax payers and
voters that have put them in office.
10/23/07-
The
district attorney is investigating allegations that Mike Marcus, the
assistant superintendent of Waller Independent School District, made
a retaliatory threat against DeWayne Charleston- whose court
action demanding equality is blocking the release of the $49.3
million in school construction money. According to an affidavit by
the clerk of Waller County Justice of the Peace DeWayne Charleston,
Juanita Vela, a person who identified himself as "Mike" told her by
phone last week that if Charleston were to go to his
"neck-of-the-woods he's liable to get shot because it's where
rednecks live." Waller County District Attorney Elton R. Mathis said
in a letter to Charleston that he is referring the matter to the
sheriff's department. It is demanded that Marcus be fired from his
professional public position.
10/01/07-
State Representative Sheila Jackson
Lee requested a Department of Justice investigation into the
operations of Waller ISD in violation of many laws and ethics (click
